What is Reflexology?

Reflexology therapy is the perfect treatment to complement any type of medical approach or alternative therapy, whether for preventative care or in response to physical or emotional health challenges.

This non-invasive therapy uses the autonomic nervous system to induce a deeply relaxed state, eliminating the tension, stress, and anxiety of everyday living.

Reflexology is based on the premise that there are reflex points in the hands, feet, and ears that correspond with nerve pathways of the nervous system.

In eastern medicine, the premise is that the reflex points act on energy meridians, in which the organs and/or glands of the body are associated. Through the stimulation of the reflex points, the body releases various hormones, which in turn causes a relaxation process of the parasympathetic nervous system, increasing blood flow, lymphatic circulation, and a rise in oxygen and immune levels, all of which help to restore balance to systems within the body.

In short, Reflexology Therapy triggers the body's internal healing ability to rebalance and function more efficiently and effectively.

Research proving the benefits of Reflexology is ongoing. Even though Reflexology is not applied for specific illnesses or diseases, its application has proven to be a natural and harmless way to good health. The therapy is used to obtain relief from all kinds of conditions from general stress to specific disorders often where conventional treatment has failed.

In addition to the reduction of stress, the physical benefits of a session can include:

  • improved blood and lymph circulation
  • increased oxygenation to body tissue
  • improved circulatory activity affecting internal systems and organs
  • relief of symptoms such as
    • digestive difficulties,
    • sluggish bowel movement, or
    • pain associated with various physical conditions.

Reflexology is also helpful for:

  • anxiety
  • stress
  • back pain
  • migraines
  • poor digestion
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • respiratory problems
  • asthma
  • headache
  • bladder problems
  • menopausal symptoms
  • period pain
  • hemorrhoids
  • constipation
  • sleep issues

Reflexology can be used to maintain good health, build resistance, and prevent illness. Health problems may also be detected before they become serious. Mental and physical tension is released, a state of relaxation is induced and energy and vitality abound.

Simply put, the art of Reflexology brings about the restoration of balance, harmony, and optimal health.
